A cream bouclé jacket with a difference! A biker style version for easier day-to-day styling of such a chic and modern fabric of style.
I was invited by London brand Saint + Sofia to style out their gorgeous Sutton Jacket for Spring 2023 – it’s a modern take on the traditional cream bouclé fabric that has become synonymous with chic styling – and what I especially love about this beautiful asymmetric jacket is that it offers you many ways to wear it, to get as much use out of it as possible. Let me explain more!
With a traditional blazer – whether that’s oversized or fitted, for some women this can feel overdressed, especially if daily life doesn’t lend itself typically to tailoring – leaving you with that overdressed feeling that can knock your confidence.
With this biker style design this not only adds a casual feel to a smart jacket but it a great Spring (and Summer) alternative to your black (p)leather biker jacket that you already own.
OUTFIT ONE – ELEVATE AN ALL BLACK OUTFIT
A cream bouclé jacket may not be your immediate thought if you are planning an all-black outfit. For Spring styling it’s nice to lighten up an all-black outfit to get more into the mood for warmer days ahead.
Hopefully you can see just how it, not only adds a touch of style to what is actually a basic outfit of a black vest top with black cargo trousers; however teamed with the heeled boots and this gorgeous Saint + Sofia cream bouclé jacket it’s elevated the outfit to make it a great option for a lunch date with girlfriends or a date night out with your partner.
On a side note; brooches are back! (music to my ears) Flowers or your favourite brand logo are the go-to this season and I found that the zip area of the Sutton jacket not only is a great position to place your brooch without touching (ruining) the bouclé fabric but you can also still zip up the entire jacket if you want to wear it closed – a win-win in my view!
OUTFIT TWO – THE OFF-DUTY, BUT ON-DUTY LOOK
We all have days where the dress code is casual but you still want to be styled – no one more than me knows how this feels!
In my little test drive with the Sutton jacket I found her really easy to style a casual outfit – she’s perfect with denim and with faux leather, but I wanted to show you how, if you needed to be a little more elevated on a casual look, to style with this season’s cream wide-leg trousers would be.
I am wearing her with a black slogan t-shirt, my black dad sandals (that will be wearing again this summer) and a houndstooth shopping tote – all of these items just take the edge off the look being overdressed, giving a more off-duty vibe.
