On Sunday 10th of May 2020 at 7pm, the whole of the United Kingdom waited with bated breath to hear the news that Boris Johnson was about to delivery – 3 more weeks of lockdown (with a few minor tweaks for us in England). With 1st of June potentially lightening up the rules, it will still be a good few months before social distancing can start to become a thing of the past.
Life in lockdown has had it’s ups and downs in ways I don’t think any of us can really describe. Some days our bubbles are a great safe zone and other days it can feel like prison – I’ve certainly not made any new life discoveries about myself, just taking it all one day at a time.
But that’s not to say that I haven’t given thought to what I will do, once social distancing is over – in fact Hubby and I have had several discussions about it on our daily dog walks with Alfonso.
What have I missed? What am I excited to get back to? If I am truly honest it changes by the day… the obvious will happen, such as reconnections with family and friends. Going for a lovely long drive in the country where you can stop at a good old tradition English pub and enjoy fab food with a gorgeous beer garden, and the company of my dog, Alfonso.
What I do know is the slower side to life is appealing, I’ve realised I can get just as much done without it being so fast paced. We’ll also have friends over to dine with us; I’ve really missed entertaining guests.
And not surprisingly I will spend the rest of this year and all of 2021 to be completely overdressed to go somewhere – I’ve so missed that!

I thought I will would ask a few of my stylish Instagram friends to share what they plan to do, once life in lockdown is over… and here is what they had to say!

Obviously I’m really looking forward to seeing friends and family after the lockdown ends, especially for my children to see their grandparents who are really missing them. With a baby and a two year old they change so quickly and they have already missed so much.
A pedicure and a haircut would not go a miss too but mostly I’m really looking forward to being able to reschedule the photo shoot I had to cancel the week of lockdown for my brand and move forward on some of the new and exciting product launches I have planned.
I have strangely enjoyed taking the time to slow down and enjoy the little things you might normally miss but it does sometimes feel like we are in limbo. I know it’s not going to be the same after lockdown and there is a long way to go but I’m looking forward to finding out or even carving out a new normal as I don’t want to go back to life as it was all fast paced and immediate gratification. There is something to be gleaned to a slower pace and having to wait, the reward is far greater.

What I am looking forward to when life returns to normal is first of all seeing my family and friends and giving them a big hug. I miss hugs the most!
Then visiting all my favourite restaurants and bars and shops in Oxford. I’ve missed it so much; it’s such a vibrant and inspiring city and I cannot wait to be inspired by it again.

I really want to see both my kids and their partners as well as friends. I long to go out in public and not feel afraid. To jump in the car or hop on a plane and go somewhere, knowing it’s okay to visit the places we love.
Pub lunches, eating out, drinks with friends; all the normal socialising stuff.

Social distancing doesn’t mean social isolation! I hope that when we make it through to the other side of these challenging times that we stay connected to people face to face the way we are currently doing through Zoom and FaceTime! I’m looking forward to continuing to make much needed time to meet and talk to family and friends and appreciate the true value of social connections!

I can’t wait to wear my fanciest dresses go out for cocktails or brunch with friends. This has taught me not to take anything for granted, and to wear my clothes, regardless of the occasion, but just because!
Life is for living. I also can’t wait to see my family again, especially my sisters – we laugh until we cry

The first thing I would love to do once social distancing is over is have a great big party with all my friends and family, get glammed up to go out out rather than being all dressed up and nowhere to go but the lounge or the kitchen.
Lots of cocktails and food I haven’t had to cook then hit the dance floor to boogie the night away with not a care in the world!

What I am looking forward to is being able to wear my various HANDBAGS! That’s right the lockdown deprived me of using anything beyond a canvas shopping bag. No handbag needed while on a daily dose of exercise… Spring Summer is such a gorgeous season, oh the joy of colourful handbags to celebrate our new normal life!

Dreaming of a train ride into London to my hairdressers for a well over due appointment, followed by a busy day of plans visiting brands, press events, dining with pals and leaving the day beaming!
I also can’t wait for a relaxing break away with my fiance. Plus really looking forward to starting my client personal shops again soon and seeing my mum!

WHAT I’M WEARING
Every Thursday at 8pm since lockdown we’ve been out on our driveway with our neighbours to clap for the NHS, all the carers and keyworkers who have been keeping our country going and looking after those that really need the help.
It was an absolute pleasure to purchase this charity tee that supports this cause #clapforourcarers
I am wearing a size S of this unisex straight cut t-shirt
