STYLE GAZER: 5 LOOKS WE LOVE THIS MONTH

three street style outfit postsStyle Gazer is a new monthly feature where I will be taking a look at some of the most stylish outfits on Instagram over the last month, to give you inspiration on how to wear what you already own or to potentially invest in.

I’m delighted to be back with Lizzie Parsons, a stylish friend of mine and a huge fan of my Loved By Lizzi blog – Lizzie has over 15 years experience styling and so I am so pleased she agreed to take part and give you some of her thoughts on what we are seeing on the highstreet.

Look 1

MERCER7

Lizzi Richardson: Erna from MERCER7 looks stunning in this trench coat, and this season the oversized fit is very much on trend. Spring can be a little to early to be wearing short jackets and so the longer trench coat is a good transitional piece; I agree with you Lizzie it’s a classic and one every woman should own. I love that I can style mine up and also style it casual – so versatile. Erna’s styling here makes it very chic with the classic vibe of black, I love it.

Lizzie Parsons: I really like the cut of this trench coat worn by Erna. It’s oversized and has a mannish vibe. It can be dressed up and down. Trench coats are a big trend for SS2020 but let’s not forget they are stalwarts of a classic capsule wardrobe. The humble but mighty trench coats is super versatile. At this time of year a light weight oversized trench coat can be a great cover up suitable for the changing weather: wind, sun and showers. A great investment piece that you can wear throughout the year, and for many years to come.

Stripey Coral

Lizzi Richardson: Jumpsuits are very much my thing, and I love this palm print design, I think it’s far more chic then a floral print in this type of garment. A great one for this Spring/Summer, I especially love the shirt-style that Coral is wearing, it’s a cut that suits many ladies of all ages. And there is versatility in styling as you can wear it open with a vest underneath and add lots of necklace layering and bracelets with some high strappy heels.

Lizzie Parsons: I love that Coral has kept her styling minimal and let her tropical print jumpsuit be the vocal point. Tropical prints are one of the biggest trends for SS2020 and a great way to get in the holiday mood even though we can’t leave home.  A lightweight jumpsuit is a great investment for your wardrobe at this time of year. Think about the type you would wear: type of sleeves, cut, shape, colour and pattern.

The Fashionable Pan

Lizzi Richardson: For those that have to wear a suit to the office (lockdown aside) a neutral suit is like this is a great investment, as you can wear it together but then style them separately too, you can get a lot of cost-per-wear over the months. Debbie here is looking all Bosslady yet still keeping a feminine and approachable vibes too. Adding colour through accessories and jewellery is how you will be able to create many different looks and yet just wear it as it is. Tailoring must always fit perfectly, difficult to do when it’s ‘off-the-peg’ but that’s where I recommend to try several of the same size as they will all have a slightly different fit or try the petite range if the sleeves are too long, failing that get a good seamstress, they are worth their weight in gold!

Lizzie Parsons: A neutral suit is a great work piece perfect for warm and sunny days. Hopefully for those who love good tailoring you’ll get to show off yours sometime soon. I love how this suit, styled to perfection by The Fashionable Pan, is a mix of both femininity and masculinity; the nipped in waist, the large buttons, the strong lines, the straight leg trousers. The finishing touch of the light blue pointed shoes and the drop pearl earrings help keep the look balanced. Typically suits need tailoring after we buy them so that we can get the nipped in waist we desire and so that the trousers finish at the perfect place. Knowing the shoes you will wear your suit trousers will help you decide on where they should fall to.

The Summer Mama
The Summer Mama

Lizzi Richardson: Floral dresses are truly my first love, and this glamorous look that The Summer Mama has achieved here is FABULOUS. Oversized sunglasses, strappy metallic sandals and a chic hat plus the added touch of a pussy-bow really elevates this look and ticks all the boxes for me. The best approach is to pick a colour that really suits your skintone, and make sure that the size of the floral pattern suits the scale of your body, you don’t what the pattern overpowering you! And then keep all your accessories as neutral but as glam as you are happy to wear.

Lizzie Parsons: The Summer Mama is showing us all how glamorous summer florals can be. As you can see this stylish lady has kept to a minimal colour palette of mainly yellow and black, (with some grey and pink in the pattern of the dress.) The gold sandals and naturally woven hat match tonally with her dress.

Georgina Patient
Georgina Patient

Lizzi Richardson: Georgina has given this statement dress an achievable everyday style for ladies, the gold accessories and the pumps keep it very real. I absolutely love the colour pink, and it certainly a colour that cheers me up no end! You are right Lizzie there are lots of different pink garments to choose from on the highstreet at the moment, we just need to pick what suits us personally. Mixing in a little leopard print makes it fun too for Spring/Summer or a dash of red.

Lizzie Parsons: I love how Georgina has given this pink dress a street style vibe. The leopard print trainers give the dress a bold and accessible look for the daytime. Pink is one of those trends that’s not going away anytime soon . You can find pink everywhere at the moment. Depending on your style you can find different shades and different cuts to suit your personality; from prairie dresses, to suits, to lounge wear.
