STRUGGLING TO FIND BOOTS THAT FIT YOUR CALVES, I HAVE THE ANSWER!

Knee boots can be so difficult to shop for; if you are struggling to find knee boots that fit your calves, then Duoboots may be the answer!

Last year I was invited by Duoboots to collaborate on Instagram to take a look at their new range of knee boots – at first I was filled with dread, in fact it took me right back to my teenage days of having to shop with my mates for boots to discover I would be the girl with the big calves that they wouldn’t fit.

When I looked more into the brand of Duoboots, I was really pleasantly surprised that their ethos of design, is all about the fit; the fit to your calves – hallelujah!

Finally a brand who realises we are not all the same size – in fact the size of your calves have nothing to do with your body weight at all. Slim girls can have big calves and larger girls can have slim legs – either way. it make you feel really sad when you know the ‘standard’ will not fit you.

It’s true that how you feel about something when you are younger carries right on into adulthood; I still shop for boots on my own or with trusted people who know this is a sensitive subject to me. That moment when you can’t do that last 2-3 cms of the zip up and it’s cutting into your skin – that feeling of embarrassment never goes.

I’ve been known to ask to go into a cubical of the fitting rooms to try my boots on, away from the open shop floor. I make out I want to see them in a full-length mirror, but it’s not really for that at all!

If you feel anything like I do about trying on knee-legnth boots that don’t stretch…. well Duoboots may be the answer for you too.

THE PRICE POINT

I’m going to meet this heads on rather avoiding the topic of price. Knee boots, especially leather is an investment purchase.

You will not get quality leather with a quality fit for under £150. Be prepared to be spending this amount as a minimum – I have, on highstreet options for many years with both my black and brown knee length boots, I’ve owned both now for over 10 years. It’s an investment purchase!

To be honest, even cheap faux leather boots can set you back £100.

Duoboots’ knee length boots, available online only, start from £175

COST PER WEAR

The more you wear them, the more they add value to your wardrobe.

Buying boots early in the Autumn season means you have many more months to wear them throughout the Autumn-to-Winter months, it’s an investment purchase you should be considering, choosing and buying early in the season.

Here’s how I wore the Belmore knee boots last Autumn-Winter

THE PERFECT FIT TO YOUR CALVES

Okay so let’s get talking about boots that fit your calves – well Duoboots have listened to their customers and created a new size system for AW21 to give complete confidence in a consistent fit between styles, especially for shopping online; which let’s be honest we are all doing way more of these days.

This unique sizing tool ensures your new calf-fitting boots are the perfect fit; helping you determine your calf size using one of its seven notches. Usually this belt is £15 that’s credited back to you after making a purchase – however as part of my AW21 collaboration they are offering you the chance to get the Duobelt for FREE without any obligation to buy.

Simply use lovedbylizziDUO at the checkout.

To use the Duobelt:

Sit with your bare feet flat to the floor, position your knees in a 90 degree angle to your thighs and floor. Measure the widest part of your calf and measure both legs. Use the highest of the two measurements when ordering.

Before you order!

Really think about how you plan to wear your boots, will it be under dresses next to your bare flesh or thin tights? Or will it be over thick denim jeans – do you see what I am saying?! If it’s the latter you may wish to measure again with your jeans on and see how much a difference it will make.

You have to decide on what’s best for you and how you will wear these boots the majority of the time.

AW21 Collection by Duoboots

Well I was truly delighted again that Duoboots wished to collaborate for another Autumn-Winter season – I chose to go for a completely different style, a faux suede grey boot called Harper;  a softer option to black for the many dark floral dresses I own.

There is a slight ruching effect to the style which adds to that soft look I wish to create. So far I have worn them twice (these current warmer days are holding me back slightly) but they are just as comfy as the Belmore that I love and will be wearing again this year.

I bought protection spray to ensure they are protected from the elements, but even so, these boots are not for snowy or heavy rain kind of days. A truly great alternative, if you feel all that you own are black boots.

Do you wear the wide fitting? I would be interested in ordering boots, but none of them are shown modelled on a leg (maybe because of pandemic) on the website and I assume none of the photos of the boots alone show the wide fitting. I am worried that the wide fitting won’t look as nice, and the lack of photos makes me think they must be uglier! Yours look fab.

Hi there Sarah, mine were not a wide fit. I would recommend that you contact them directly and ask about their wide fit or at least get an understanding of the measurements involved, so that you can then compare to your personal dimensions.
Have you also checked out their instagram account? @duoboot – on there they have a variety of different influencers wearing a variety of their styles. I would have a good look through and see what you like and see who is wearing it. Each influencer would be more than happy for you to DM them and ask them advice about how they personally found the fit.
I hope that helps, Lizzi x
