HOW I USE DRY SHAMPOO DURING A HEATWAVE

How I use Dry shampoo in a heatwave
Fine hair and heatwaves are really not a great combo!

Dry shampoo is such a great product if you have fine hair. Read on to find out how I use it daily in my summer styling.

This last week I’ve realised just how much I rely on having dry shampoo in my beauty kit! For summer styling and most certainly for packing for holidays; it’s my number one product right now.

I USE DRY SHAMPOO straight AFTER BLOW DRYING

If I ever win the lottery (although I need to buy a ticket first) – a daily blowdry by a professional would be high priority on my list!

Having fine hair, with the potential to frizz at just the weather person on the telly saying ‘a chance of rain‘ is quite honestly stressful; it’s actually really hard work. Which is why I’ve recently opted for a shorter style so that I can use my straighteners a lot less and embrace the more natural curl during my week.

On the days I blow dry my own hair straight, once I think it’s done and before I spray hairspray, I will spritz dry shampoo in the crown area of my head. I lift the crown area first and spray just underneath it and then I spray my fringe, again lifting the first section; I gently rub with my hairs for a few seconds, then give it a good brush out making sure it all comes out.

This new technique that I introduced about 6 months ago; ensures my hair is fully dry, something that is extremely important for fine hair that has the potential to frizz and it keep it straighter for longer.

Plus I have found it eliminates the need for texture spray (which some brands charge a ridiculously premium for and I now believe is pretty dry shampoo in disguise), because you get the same results of added texture too.

I USE DRY SHAMPOO BEFORE BEDTIME

I cannot remember where I got this tip, but about 12 months ago I either read or watched something that offered this tip – and it works!

I don’t do it every night; I typically spray dry shampoo before bedtime when I’ve paid for a professional blowdry that I want to make last a good few days.

I’ve also do this when I am abroad on holiday as I don’t usually wash my hair in the mornings, I’ll be heading straight to the pool or beach or even on a city break I would have my hair up or wear a hat; I then wash my hair as part of freshening up for the evening out.

I’ve found, that if it’s very hot (even at home in England) and you know it’s going to be a hot, sweaty night due to a heatwave – this helps with keeping the sweat off your head. It’s unlikely to stop you from having to wash your hair in the morning, but I have noticed it does help with making it all a little less sweaty during the night, for a better night sleep; which let’s be honest we need!

I use dry shampoo throughout the day to keep my fine hair dry. Read the blogpost to find out more about my tips on dry shampoo.

I USE IT THROUGHOUT THE DAY

When you in a midst of a heatwave, fine hair needs to stay dry; I’ve found squirting more on throughout the day has kept my hair straight, helps my fringe remain dry as that’s always the first to go.

Plus I find it keeps my hair fresh, especially if the heat is so hot you can’t be re-washing & drying your hair, especially if you are heading out throughout the day or evening.

THE BRAND I USE

I’ve tried all sorts and I keep going back to the same brand, over and over again. You can find it in your supermarket quite easily near the hairsprays or shampoos.

And it’s always under a fiver…!
