This was me in early May, attending the UK launch of Cabi Clothing, a US brand making headways in the UK market – they softly launched in the UK a couple of years ago, perhaps you already know a Cabi stylist. However Cabi plan to really invest with UK customers and a two-day pop up shop in the heart of London was the big hello. Nearly two months on, I now feel ready to talk to you about their SS19 collection – why? Because I have fully tested it and can show you, using real #ootd (outfit of the day posts) just how I have been wearing their collection this summer.
In the spirit of transparency all items by Cabi Clothing have been gifted, however the brand have not asked for any blogpost – so this is coming to you because I genuinely like the items (one of them, I need to get a little more used to – but I’ll explain that in a bit) and this blogpost demonstrates how I have incorporated this US style into my UK wardrobe.
The photo above is how I attended their London launch – I am wearing their Disco Dress which is a full length wrap dress – I like it because black is easy for an evening event but the very tiny polka dot print breaks up the black and I feel gives it an edgy look – which is why I teamed it with my own biker jacket and boots. I have accessorised using their Flaunt scarf tied on my Guess bag (I like a scarf on a bag, it’s a simple way to add more style to your look), along with their Cha-Cha Charm Necklace and Treasure Bracelet.
So next up is the Valentine Jacket in this gorgeous red (the SS19 collection does have trousers to match so you can make it a suit) – this light linen jacket is a great way to add colour to your office style, as demonstrated below. Plus if you have any floral dresses or skirts that have red tones this will be perfect too. I am also looking forward to styling this down with jeans and a white tee. I love the attention to detail in the design, the classy red buttons have a gold rim around them and inside the jacket its got a blue and red ditsy print that they have used as a trim, it’s a really nice touch – and the jacket has shoulder pads making sure that it sits right on your shoulders.
Sticking with the office and the one I’m still getting my head around is the Bronco Blouse – this is so not my usual style but I saw it on a few ladies at the launch night and was determined to give it a go and see how I could adapt this gorgeous blouse within my wardrobe. The day I wore to the office I received many compliments, a good starting point. Next time I plan to wear it with jeans possibly heeled sandals and for a more stylish look, I will tie a knot in the front (this was not really an option for a working day!). Look out for this on my Instagram soon,
Next up is the Spring blouse and True Boyfriend jeans – Starting with the jeans, this is where sizing is quite different compared to what you are used to here in the UK. So if Cabi was a UK brand, I would be recommending that you size down one from your usual size, the range is generous in size and whilst its sometimes great to oversize on like a blazer or blouse, I think you would find it too big. With US sizing you have to minus 4, so for example a 14 would be a 10, a 12 would 8 and so on. The True boyfriend jeans are simply lush, I really enjoy wearing them, I can get away without wearing a belt as it sits really well on my hips (sometimes I find belts with jeans just adds to much bulk and can be a little uncomfy – so this is a big bonus). So based on my sizing explanation, I am a 12, size down for generosity and take out the US factor so this is a size US 6.
This blouse is a great option for holiday, particularly a city break, you can style this blouse up with trousers and a blazer or you can do what I have done here and dressed it down with jeans and trainers. This blouse is sheer so I have worn my own navy vest top just to make it less sheer for a daytime look.
My final outfit is the Dream Dress – the Cabi stylists have indicated you can wear your jeans under this dress to give it a completely different vibe, I’ve not tried this yet – but denim seriously suits this dress, I love it with my vintage denim jacket along with my trainers – this was such a great London outfit as I had a lot of running around to do, yet I felt super stylish all day. Again I added the Flaunt scarf to my little white bag.
