Autumn trends can be overwhelming; here are three trends you can easily consider straight from the highstreet!
I do love a new fashion season and Autumn is one of my favourites; for my own personal style I really love a lot of layering and Autumn gives me that.
I also love to cover up; it’s a personal choice but I just think there is something quite stylighy-chic about wearing high-necklines, longer sleeves (even if that’s with sheer fabric) and anything that allows you to get that cosy feeling from knitwear and jackets.
With new fashion seasons come new trends and this year, maybe because we’ve had a quieter pace in fashion, I feel like the Autumn trends have exploded. There is so much choice that it can be overwhelming to know where to start!
Always remember your own personal style is way more important than any trend; a trend is short-term your style is forever! Tap into what suits you, avoid anything that you know in your gut you really don’t like, even if it looks a million dollars on your bestie – who cares! Put yourself first.
Coming up are three trends that I bet, if you had a really good look in your wardrobe, you may already own some… but if you don’t here are a few highstreet options that you can tap into this Autumn.
Autumn trends that I think are not too ‘trendy’!
Adding browns
This one is super easy and you can add it in a few ways!
Wear a brown jacket over an all black outfit – just like I’ve done in the image above. Go one step further and add a brown bag, even if it’s a cheap shopper tote!
The other way you can go, is mix it in with any creams or beiges you already own – like a brown oversized jumper with cream jeans and brown boots – and do the sandwich style tip!
Or… consider monochrome – this is where you dress top-to-toe in different shades of brown and create one look in this one colour; it’s such a modern vibe.
Breton is back
Back with a bang and I just love it.
It’s such an easy look to get right; wear it with blue denim and either a black or navy blazer and any handbag of your choice!
Wear it to the office or keep it casual for the weekend, it’s one you really don’t have to overthink.
RURAL & Quilted
I think it’s fair to say you can thank our Queen for this next one! Country style with a modern quilted vibe.
You can take this one all the way to the horsey-countryside look with leather brown gloves and a decorative head scarf; or you can keep your usual style and just stay warm in khaki green quilt.
Most of the highstreet is offering a quilted jacket or coat of sorts; so have fun, try them all on! Consider your budget, don’t over invest as it is a trend, but think about the quality of warmth the jacket will give you over the winter months as you need this to be functional and not just for fashion!
Next up; HOW TO ELEVATE YOUR OFF-DUTY LOOK
A great read Lizzi. I love the brown JL jumpsuit. Autumn is probably my favourite season for dressing. 🤎

I agree Celine, Autumn is such a fun styling season! Lizzi x
Great AW21 tips! Especially as these ones have a classic feel to them and will be more than a passing trend. I’m a bit unsure about khaki green this season, but that gilet you have picked looks good. Nice M&S Bretton top too, such a classic.

I am so pleased you love the edit, it’s always important to select items you can take into another season or following year. Breton never really dates either! Thanks for reading, Lizzi x
