AUGUST OUTFITS ~ WHAT I WORE

What I Wore in August

What I wore throughout August 2021 – rewearing, restyling some old favourites, plus a few new pieces just to refresh my look.

Can you believe summer is nearly over! Sadly I don’t think, like many people, we’ve really had a chance to to wear our summer clothes as they should be – wet weather and chilly winds, it’s either felt like a spring day or feeling autumn coming on.

Fingers cross for an Indian summer and if we do, I will be rewearing some of these favourite outfits of mine, minus any jackets!

WHAT I WORE – OUTFIT 1

I’ve worn a lot of black this summer, I think quite honestly it’s been my mood! I struggle to wear colour when the sun doesn’t shine. This Ethereal London black jumpsuit has been a firm favourite of mine throughout June to August – I’ve worn it to work, to lunch dates and on days when I want to keep my styling simple, yet totally stylish!

It is an investment piece, one I made during winter actually and I’ve worn it most weeks at some point – I’ve teamed it here with this season’s ‘dad’ sandals; I opted for a less premium brand as I was unsure if I would like the style on me – I’ve found that I do like wearing them, and choose to do so with wide leg trousers or jeans or a floaty skirt, anything tapered just doesn’t (for me) balance right.

WHAT I WORE – OUTFIT 2

I have continued wearing my black slip dress; as it’s been considerably cooler this summer I have had to wear something with it – over the summer I have worn it with t-shirts either under it or over it.

To avoid tying any knots in the t-shirt to give it any ruching, I chose to wear a slim belt and then pulled the t-shirt over to hide the belt; this way it looks more like a top and skirt combo, which is the effect I wanted to achieve. I wore this out shopping in Milton Keynes Central and I loved it!

WHAT I WORE – OUTFIT 3

I have loved this green Zara dress, it’s been a great asset to my summer wardrobe.  Although it’s not really been warm enough to wear it on it’s own, thankfully this vintage denim jacket I’ve owned for over 25 years works perfectly with it!

This look was voted as one of the most favourites by my Instagram community, a firm favourite that I think I can take into Autumn simply by adding boots.

WHAT I WORE – OUTFIT 4

If you click through onto this post the date will say July, however I have worn it many times in August. As soon as the sun shines, THIS is the dress I wish to wear. Although it is long-sleeved it’s surprisingly cool to wear and as it’s not been mega hot, it’s really (for me) been the best dress of the summer in my wardrobe!

I bought this dress from a local independent in the sale, right at the end of last summer, so I didn’t get any chance to wear it when I first bought it. As soon as the sun came out this year, I got it on! I saved a considerable amount of money buying this in the sale, I think it was 70% off. It’s always worth looking out for items you know you will wear even if you have to initially wait months, as they can be one of your best buys!

WHAT I WORE – OUTFIT 5

Metallic coloured dresses are so universal for every season. With my natural colourings, gold suits me better than silver. The sustainable fashion brand, Saint+Sofia continue to a brand of choice for me; this gold dress is in their current collection.

Instead of opting for a contrasting colour, I decided to go ‘all gold’ with a hint of leopard print to my bag to add interest  – it just so happened I needed to use a big tote that day, so this beach style bag worked perfectly with the look I wanted to achieve.
